The University of Alabama Arboretum

Arboretum SignThe University of Alabama Arboretum maintains plant collections for botanical education and appreciation. The Arboretum features walking trails through a native woodland section, a wildflower garden, a collection of ornamental plants, an experimental garden, and a children’s garden. Most of the Arboretum’s land was donated by the federal government to help support the University’s goals.

Master Gardeners have been meeting weekly at the Arboretum for over two years to perform various garden maintenance chores, such as weeding, planting, mulching, watering, pruning and potting inside and outside the greenhouse. We are taking a “winter break” but will be looking forward to returning in the spring.

Our commitment to the Arboretum plantings has made it the go-to place for many visitors.  We may not see all the visitors and hear their favorable comments, but the responses are always very complimentary! The Arboretum is such a special place to all of us,
